Metabolic horses and any horse seeking a premium forage with minimal sugar levels and no added grain.
Forage is the most important component of a horse’s diet and should be fed at a rate of 1.5-2.5% of a horse’s body weight. Introduce Standlee Smart Carb Performance gradually into your horse’s diet over seven to fourteen (7-14) days, supplementing the forage and/or pasture with Smart Carb fed at a rate of .05 to 1% lb of body weight per day. (i.e., 6-12lbs /1200lb horse/day)
NEVER FEED MOLDY OR INSECT INFESTED FORAGE. ALWAYS PROVIDE FREE-ACCESS TO FRESH, CLEAN WATER.
To reduce the risk of rapid consumption that can lead to digestive upset and choke, pellets are recommended to be soaked (2 parts water to 1 part pellet) for a minimum of 30 minutes or until the forage is softened to a soup-like consistency. Weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse before soaking.

Forage is a natural agriculture product. Despite the use of modern processing equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign materials. Sort and remove foreign materials before feeding.
To maintain product quality and ensure safety, store product in a covered, cool, and well-ventilated environment out of the effects of the weather.
DISCARD ANY SOILED OR WET FORAGE IMMEDIATELY.
The statement, "I want a low carbohydrate feed for my horse", has become popular in recent years. The reasons, or potential reasons, for wanting a low carbohydrate horse feed could include the desire to influence or modify behavior, or a sensitivity to so-called carbohydrate diseases including: Tying-up, Cushing's, Laminitis or Insulin Resistance. But before we try to eliminate all the carbohydrates, we should understand more about the carbohydrates in horse diets.
